Senior Tax Accountant
We are looking to fill the position of the Senior Tax Accountant. The role reports to the Finance Manager – Finance Manager- Internal Controls & Tax and will be based in Nairobi – Head Quarters – Uhuru Highway. The Tax Accountant reports to this position.
Job Purpose
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing CFAO Mobility companies tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities. Ensure that the company meets all statutory requirements and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to minimize tax risks exposure and optimize tax efficiencies.
Main Responsibilities of the Job
1. Prepare, compute review, and ensure timely submission of all tax returns (VAT, Corporate Tax, WHVAT, WHT.) in compliance with Kenyan tax laws.
2. Liaise with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and serve as part of the key contact on all tax-related matters, including audits, assessments, and correspondence
3. Maintain proper documentation and records of all tax-related matters and ensure availability for audit and statutory review.
4. Provide tax advisory support to business units and divisions, including impact analysis of new tax laws or changes in business operations.
5. Work closely with external tax consultants/auditors on compliance, audits, and advisory matters.
6. Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate implications on the business.
7. Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls to ensure tax compliance and risk mitigation measures in setting correct and tax compliant standard processes as per CFAO group expectations.
8. Support transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with local and global transfer pricing regulations (Local file & master file).
9. Train and support corporate teams and divisions on tax processes and compliance requirements.
10. Prepare tax provisions and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting
11. Review and provide support on advance tax calculations, compliance matters, and other routine tax obligations prepared by external tax advisors for various mobility business companies.
12. Monitor monthly progress on various tax reports and cases and coordinate regular meetings with tax consultants to review ongoing matter.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Minimum level of academic and professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role
a) Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tax compliance and accounting, preferably within a multinational, large local company or an audit firm.
b) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
c) CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
d) Post graduate Diploma in Tax Administration (added advantage)
e) In-depth knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and KRA processes.
f) Experience in dealing with tax audits, handling different tax cases and transfer pricing
g) Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office
